Dachser's 2016 revenue rises 1.7pc to US$6.07b with increased tonnage
GERMANY's global logistics provider, Dachser, handled 80 million shipments for a total of 38.2 million tonnes in fiscal 2016, up 2.4 per cent year on year, amid a surge in European overland transport and food logistics.
Consolidated gross revenues were up 1.7 per cent to EUR5.71 billion (US$6.07 billion), reported American Shipper.
The company's Road Logistics business, which accounts for 75 per cent of generated revenues, achieved revenues of EUR4.31 billion, a 3.7 percent year-over-year increase. The Air & Sea Logistics business posted revenues of EUR1.54 billion, down three per cent due to low international freight rates, especially in sea freight, and negative currency effects.
Looking ahead, Dachser has increased the size of its planned investments from EUR125 million in 2016 to EUR177 million for 2017 that will be used to expand network locations, as well as to fund IT systems, and research and development, American Shipper reported.
