Singapore extends port dues rebates for transshipped vehicles
AUTOMOBILE carrier operators handling transshipment vehicles will continue to receive port dues rebates for three years more from the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore.
The programme provides up to 20 per cent in rebates for vehicle carriers in port for less than five days at a time, effective until December 31, 2019, reported American Shipper.
According to the MPA, rebates are granted to carriers as follows:
- Less than 10,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 10 per cent port dues rebate if a minimum compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of five per cent over base year is achieved. There will be no rebate if the growth condition is not met.
- Between 10,000 and 200,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 20 per cent port dues rebate if a minimum CAGR of two per cent over base year is achieved; otherwise, 10 per cent port dues rebate.
- More than 200,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 20 per cent port dues rebate if positive CAGR over base year is achieved; otherwise, 10 per cent port dues rebate.
