Ocean Alliance makes Singapore SE Asia hub as CMA CGM-PSA link up

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM and Singapore global port operator PSA have opened the second phase of their container terminal joint venture, the CMA CGM-PSA Lion Terminal (CPLT), in Singapore.

The CPLT started operations with two mega container berths at PSA Singapore's Pasir Panjang Terminal 5 (PPT 5) that had an initial annual capacity of two million TEU in the second half of 2016. With the addition of two more berths under Phase 2 of its development, the CPLT now offers a total operating capacity of four million TEU.

Featuring state-of-the-art yard automation equipment, the terminal has become a regional hub for CMA CGM's operations in Asia.

Singapore will be the only hub for CMA CGM's Ocean Alliance in southeast Asia. The port will receive 34 weekly calls within the framework of 29 services of all three shipping alliances on the Asia-Europe trade, compared with 29 calls at 27 services to date, reported Varna's Maritime Herald.
