American Trucking Associations raise healthcare at Trump meeting
AN American Trucking Associations delegation visited the White House to discuss healthcare and general policy issues with US President Donald Trump.
"The Affordable Care Act is just plain unaffordable," said ATA president and CEO Chris Spear.
"Replacing this law will help trucking employees, their families and our customers by lowering insurance costs, decreasing mandates, liabilities and administrative burdens, and providing access to quality care and patient choice," he said.
Said ATA chairman Kevin Burch: "We are here to tell you Mr President, that the trucking industry will support you as you work towards solving America's healthcare challenges. We look forward to working with you on improving our workplace, which is our highways."
Said FedEx driver Don Logan: "As drivers, we feel the weight of the numerous regulations placed on us, as well as our companies, and those that we serve. We stand with you in your effort to improve the current healthcare law making it easier for us to make a living and serve America."
The delegation included trucking executives from James Burg Trucking, Old Dominion Freight Line, FedEx Freight, US Xpress Inc., Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association, UPS Freight, Kenan Advantage Group, Crete Carrier Corp and CRST International.
