China's SITC pays US$13 million for two 2,474-TEU containerships
Chinese containership operator SITC has acquired two 2,474-TEU ships - the Kanaga Island and the Elba Island - from US owner Soundview Maritime for a total of US$12.8 million, according to Braemar ACM Shipbroking.
SITC has been active on the second-hand market lately. It acquired the 2,496-TEU Ulysses in February and two 2,524-TEU containerships ?Wehr Trave and Wehr Warnow in January.
With the latest acquisitions, the SITC fleet is approaching the 100,000-TEU mark, reported Singapore's Splash 24/7.
