CMA CGM to increase rates east-west, north-south worldwide in April

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has issued a range of April rate increases affecting east-west and north south trade lanes worldwide.

Starting with the most immediate, there will be a US$750 per TEU rate increase levied on cargo from Asia to the east coast of South America from April 1.



And from the west coast of India to Mogadishu CMA CGM rates will rise $200 per TEU from April 1.



CMA CGM Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates will rise $1,400 per TEU and $1,700 per FEU from the European northern range to Port Kelang and Shanghai from April 16.



These new FAK rates will apply to Chinese main ports and will include the basic freight and subject to the bunker related surcharges, THCs, peak season charges and other levies, all accessible at http://www.cma-cgm.com/ebusiness/tariffs/charge-finder. 



From April 15, CMA CGM will levy a $750 per TEU increase on cargo from Asia to Mexico, west coast of South America (WCSA) and west coast of Central America (WCCA).



CMA CGM will also levy FAK rates increases from UAE to East Africa, namely Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam from April 30. Specifically, rates from Jebel Ali to Mombasa and Dar will increase $1,175 per TEU and $2,350 per FEU.



And from Khor Fakkan to Mombasa and Dar rates will rise $1,175 per TEU and $2,350 per FEU. 



And from Asia, including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh to Kenya and Tanzania, CMA CGM rates will rise $300 per TEU from April 15.
