Yachtsman rescued by NYK bulk carrier in the Strait of Magellan
A YACHTSMAN in distress in the Strait of Magellan was rescued by the crew of the NYK bulk carrier Frontier Ambition.
A company statement said the bulk carrier while sailing from Rizhao, China, to Otway, Chile, received a request from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Punta Arenas to assist a yachtsman who had become stranded due to bad weather on February 18.
Two days later, the yachtsman was delivered in good to the Chilean coast guard.
The yachtsman offered his gratitude to the vessel and a letter of appreciation was received from the maritime authority, the company said.
