Hutchison Ports to operate new box terminal at Stockholm port
HUTCHISON Ports has struck a deal with the Ports of Stockholm to operate the new container terminal that is currently under construction at Norvik Port. The new terminal is scheduled to open in 2020.
As the only deep-water container facility on the east coast of Sweden, the new terminal has a 450-metre quay and a depth of 16.5-metre. Future expansion will allow capacity levels to meet 450,000 TEU annually, the American Shipper cited Hutchinson Ports as saying.
Hutchinson Ports has operated the Container Terminal Frihamnen in Stockholm since 2009. Once the new terminal opens, the Frihamnen will be redeveloped by the Ports of Stockholm for residential and amenity purposes.
