Singapore port box volume down 3pc to 2.3m TEU in February
PRELIMINARY estimates from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) show that the Lion City's port posted lower container throughput in February compared to the year-ago figure.
Singapore handled box volumes of 2.3 million TEU in February 2017, down 3.4 per cent from 2.38 million TEU posted in February 2016, MPA data showed.
Container throughput last month also declined compared to 2.62 million TEU recorded in January this year, the Seatrade Maritime News of Colchester, UK, reported.
In the first two months of 2017, Singapore port posted a total throughput of 4.92 million TEU, a slight rise of one per cent compared to 4.87 million TEU registered in the previous corresponding period.
