St Petersburg remains busiest container port in Russia
RUSSIA's seaports handled a total of 33,538 TEU during the month of January, an year-on-year increase of 12.9 per cent.
Export container traffic increased by 10.3 per cent to 14,127 TEU, while imported containers increased by 18.2 per cent to 14,561 TEU in the first month of the year compared to January 2016.
Transit containers rose by 2.3 to 3,390 TEU and the cabotage shipped containers turnover rose by 6.0 per cent year on year to 4,512 TEU.
During the first month of the year, the top 10 Russian seaports handled 32,782 thousand TEU, or 97.7 per cent of the total container throughput, which represent an increase of 13.7 per cent compared to January 2016.
St Petersburg was the leading port with a turnover of 14,447 thousand TEU (+11.2 per cent). The second position was taken by Novorossiysk with 5,566 TEU (+7.3 per cent) and third is the port of Vladivostok with 5,565 TEU (+28.5 per cent).
