Submarine cable repair works off Junk Bay in HK waters
THE Hong Kong Marine Department has announced in Notice No.27 of 2017 that submarine cable repair works will be carried out for approximately eight weeks, and urged vessels in the vicinity of Junk Bay to proceed with caution as divers will be at work.
The works will be conducted in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (F): (A) 22 deg. 16.985'N / 114 deg. 15.808'E; (B) 22 deg. 16.985'N / 114 deg. 15.855'E; (C) 22 deg. 16.910'N / 114 deg. 15.900'E; (D) 22 deg. 16.877'N / 114 deg. 15.855'E; (E) 22 deg. 16.877'N / 114 deg. 15.808'E; and (F) 22 deg. 16.910'N / 114 deg. 15.770'E.
The works will be performed by two dumb lighters. One tugboat and one work boat will provide assistance. There will be a 50-metre working area around each lighter, and yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighters.
The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. Vessels employed for the works will remain within the area outside working hours.
