Singapore Airlines Cargo's Q3 volume rises 6.6pc
SINGAPORE Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo) flew a total of 333,500 tonnes of cargo and mail during the third quarter of its 2016-17 financial year, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.6 per cent, driven by stronger than expected peak season demand.
Between October 1 and December 31 2016 SIA Cargo's revenue improved by SGD8 million (US$5.6 million), up 1.5 per cent year on year.
In the third quarter, yield declined 5.2 per cent year on year, however, the cargo load factor rose from 64.9 per cent to reach 65.9 per cent, despite a 5.1 per cent year-on-year increase in capacity, reported London's Air Cargo News.
As a whole, the SIA Group reported an operating profit of SGD293 million ($206.7 million) in the third quarter, up by 1.7 per cent year on year on a group revenue decline of 2.5 per cent to SGD3,844 million ($2,711 million).
