K+N awarded CEIV-Pharma certification across global air network
SWISS forwarding giant Kuehne + Nagel's entire PharmaChain air network that covers 86 locations worldwide has been awarded the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) CEIV certification for pharmaceuticals.
IATA's CEIV certification provides assurance that shipments of sensitive pharmaceuticals are handled in a manner that prevents temperature incursions throughout the supply chain, reported New York's Air Cargo World.
K+N's PharmaChain provides real-time monitoring and visibility using "active transmitting sensors and proactive intervention," which allows shippers to verify the state of their shipments of pharmaceuticals.
"Kuehne + Nagel's strategy to join the CEIV-Pharma certification demonstrates the importance of such programmes for the air cargo and pharmaceutical industries," said IATA vice president Nick Careen.
"Our joint effort to certify the global KN PharmaChain network, as well as the integration of the IATA CEIV-Pharma standards, like the CEIV checklist, in Kuehne + Nagel's quality process, is a key step forward to roll out this programme worldwide."
