Additional cranes installed at Incheon New Port

INCHEON Port Authority (IPA) has announced that the work of opening the 1.6km long berth to Incheon New Port is accelerating with the installation of yard crane and quay crane.

According to the IPA, Sunkwang Newport Container Terminal(SNCT) is installing eight automated rail mounted gantry cranes (ARMGCs) which are able to do 6th grade bond and 9-line unloading work. SNCT installed 4 cranes recently and the other 4 cranes will be carried additionally at the end of this month. There will be a total of 22 ARMGCs at SNCT to improve port's productivity, Port News reported.



The other terminal operating company (TOC) at Incheon New Port, HanJin Incheon Container Terminal(HJIT), will also install 2 rail mounted quayside cranes (RMQCs) that can unload 22 line containers until next month. By installing 1 RMQC until the end of this month and 1 RMQC in February, HJIT expects to boost the efficiency of cargo handling service dramatically. Totally, HJIT will secure 7 RMQC.



Once the two terminals at Incheon New Port are opened later this year, handling capability of Incheon New Port will be 2.1 million TEU.
