Arctic shipping progress focus of Montreal conference March 8-9
THE 10th Arctic Shipping Summit will take place on March 8 - 9 in Montreal where delegates will learn more about conditions from Neil O'Rourke, director of integrated logistic support of the Canadian Coast Guard.
Also speaking will be Petter Meier, deputy director general, Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications as well as Lonnie Kishiyama, director, office of international activities, US Department of Transport.
Other speakers and panellists include Halldor Johannsson, executive director, Arctic Portal; George Schlagintweit, manager-operations division, Canadian Hydrographic Service; Mikaa Mered, managing partner, POLARISK Group and Peter Pamel, partner, Borden Ladner Gervais.
The conference will bring together various key industry stakeholders including shipowners, ship manager, fuel solution providers, IT and data associations, consultants and technology providers.
Key topics include advancements on coastal state regulations, adoption and requirements connecting to the Polar Code, developments of operational matters within the Arctic, commercial shipping activity in Arctic regions among others.
