Singapore to host Maritime HR & Crew Management Summit on March 8-9
THE 20th Maritime HR & Crew Management Summit organised by ACI is to be held on March 8-9, 2017 in Singapore. The event will focus on how HR and crew management operations within a shipping company can seek to improve strategy, in order to strengthen both current and future crewing staff.
Regulatory practices to guarantee the safety and security of crew when offshore will also be covered in great detail, a statement from the organiser said.
The summit will also provide insights into how understanding cultural diversity and awareness can improve the relationship between the different groups within crewing staff; updates on the Marine Labour Convention (MLC) and STCW compliance; and how to attract and retain female crewing staff.
Other discussions will focus on the challenges of gaining loyal workers due to the way modern families are put together; seafarer training methodology; the effectiveness of the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and web-based learning to enhance ship operation capabilities; and the Global Maritime Dress and Safety System (GMDSS) and SAT-C.
