Cargolux renews EU and WHO pharma distribution certification

CARGOLUX Airlines has again passed its Good Distribution Practice (GDP) renewal audit for handling pharma products in accordance with European Union regulatory requirements and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

Furthermore, the GDP certification recognises the European all-cargo carrier's fleet of Boeing 747 freighters with four independently-controlled temperature zones.

The audit also extends to the Luxembourg-based airline's qualified team of cool chain experts, experienced in the handling of healthcare goods in an effective, end-to-end temperature controlled process, London's Air Cargo News reported.

Cargolux director global logistics services and also chairman of IATA's Time and Temperature Task Force, Franco Nanna, said: "The GDP re-certification underlines Cargolux's strong commitment to the safe and expedient movement of high value temperature sensitive healthcare goods across its global network. It also recognises the company's continuous drive for service quality that is much appreciated by customers and partners alike."

Cargolux became the world's first GDP certified airline in January 2014, and its hub at Luxembourg airport is also GDP certified.
