Dimerco expands ocean network, opens two new offices in China
TAIWAN's Dimerco Express Group has opened two new offices with dedicated ocean team to its network based at key ports in China at Qingdao and Xiamen in response to increasing ocean freight business.
By the end of October 2016 Dimerco handled over 187,000 TEU, 32 per cent more than in the same period in 2015. As a result, the company established two Diversified International Transportation (Shanghai) Co Ltd service centres at two hubs of Qingdao and Xiamen to provide more comprehensive coverage of Greater China, according to a company statement.
The Qingdao branch at Westin started operations on December 28 and focuses on hi-tech products, consumer electronics, clothing, textiles, medical and health and automotive components.
The Xiamen Branch opened on December 30 to deal with mainly consumer electronics and equipment, household equipment, clothing and textiles as part of an overall bid to strengthen the specialist ocean team who will be responsible for forming strategic global alliance partners to boost new business in 2017.
The growth of the ocean freight business in China coincides with Dimerco gaining recognition in US for being among the top 50 forwarders by ocean freight volume shipping from China to the US.
Meanwhile, the group's November revenues increased eight per cent to NTD1,380 million (US$42.7 million) with the strongest performance in the North America, up 20.6 per cent while Europe soared 45.4 per cent.
