Atlas Air Worldwide pilots threaten to leave as AAWW lacks enough pilots: union

ATLAS Air Worldwide pilots claim AAWW does not have enough pilots to meet the needs of its clients, such as its largest cargo contractor DHL and also Amazon.

According to a release from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the pilots "are looking for work at other airlines because their employer refuses to come to an industry-standard contract agreement that will address staffing shortages," reported Daytona Daily News.

The "looming mass departure" of pilots from AAWW has been revealed in two surveys of current and former pilots at Atlas Air and Southern Air, which are subsidiaries of AAWW, that was released by the Airline Professionals Association, Teamsters Local 1224, the union said.

Earlier this year, pilots at Atlas, Southern, ABX Air and two other cargo carriers that fly for DHL voted with 99 per cent support to strike, the union said.
