Volga-Dnepr Airlines ships mammoth gold mining 'crusher' within Russia

RUSSIA's Volga-Dnepr Airlines' has used one of its An-124-100 freighters to transport from Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg an 88-tonne 'jaw crusher' used for gold mining, along with other equipment and tooling, to Russia's Sokol Airport in Magadan.

The jaw crusher will be used for primary ore crushing during the gold mining process in the Magadan region, reported The STAT Trade Times.

The airline loaded the cargo using the freighter's onboard loading systems. "We were not only able to provide a fast and secure delivery for our customer, we were also able to reduce their end-to-end transportation costs by eliminating the need for special loading equipment thanks to the unique capabilities of our An-124 aircraft," said lead executive, key accounts, Sergey Bayushev.

The airline's technical experts also prepared recommendations to the customer on the positioning of the shipment on the trailer that delivered it to the departure airport.
