Warning to shipping with the staging of major yacht race in Hong Kong
A LARGE-SCALE yacht race is to be held around Hong Kong Island on November 27, which is expected to attract about 250 yachts to participate in the event.
The yachts will set off at staggered times between 08:15 hours and 09:30 hours off the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, sailing around Hong Kong Island in a clockwise direction, and finishing the race off the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter by 17:30 hours.
The Hong Kong Marine department warned masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity of the race route to proceed with caution, giving practical consideration to the contestants. It pointed out that compliance with the provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 is mandatory.
