Asia-Europe rate falls 10pc to US$788/TEU, down 7pc to Med ports
SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe fell 10 per cent to US$788 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Asia-Mediterranean trade dropped 7 per cent to $710 per TEU, IHS Media reported. Asia to the US west coast plunged 18 per cent week-over-week to $1,687 per FEU while those to the east coast fell slightly to $2,623 per FEU from $2,671 per FEU at the end of the previous week.
