Frankfurt Airport's October air freight, airmail volume up 4.8pc

FRANKFURT Airport's (FRA) air cargo throughput, including airmail, in October rose by 4.8 per cent to 194,108 metric tonnes compared to the same month a year earlier. The growth was driven in part by the positive trend in the Germany's industrial sector.

In September, the airport's combined air freight and airmail volumes increased by 5.9 per cent year on year, which was attributed to the slight recovery of the global economy, reported The STAT Trade Times.

Aircraft movements declined by 1.5 per cent to 41,939 takeoffs and landings in October. Despite a slight 0.3 per cent decline on the previous year, maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) posted the second highest score in an October month to date, reaching 2.7 million metric tonnes.
