Russia's top box terminal St Petersburg handles 417,600 TEU
RUSSIA's Container Terminal St Petersburg (CTSP), a member of UCL Holding, handled 417,600 TEU in the first nine months of the year, up 1.5 times over the same period last year.
Import volume increased 44 per cent year on year to 191,200 TEU, including 37,700 TEU of laden reefer containers, according to St Petersburg's PortNews.
Export volume increased by 59.9 per cent, compared to the same period last year, to 226,400 TEU. The share of laden export containers in overall throughput increased by 6.3 per cent to 41.7 per cent.
The shares of export and import in overall throughput of containers are 54.2 per cent, and 45.8 per cent respectively.
In the nine-month period of 2016, CTSP handled 384 vessels with an average call size of 1,000 TEU. Based on the throughput results for in the nine-month period, CTSP remains a leader among sea container terminals of Russia. Terminal's market share in the ports of St Petersburg and Ust-Luga is 30.6 per cent.
For the whole of 2015, the terminal handled a total of 398,000 TEU.
