DHL readies hubs in Frankfurt, Istanbul to meet rising Iranian import demand
DHL FRIEGHT is establishing competence centres in Frankfurt and Istanbul to meet growing demand for trucking for European exports to Iran, reports Lloyd's Loading List.
DHL Freight's supporting companies are exporting goods from Europe to Iran by offering pan-European part- and full truck loads, as well as weekly departures for groupage shipments.
"The recent political and economic developments present great potential for doing business," said DHL Freight CEO Amadeus Diablo.
The company defined multiple core services such as weekly departures of groupage shipments to Teheran from its gateway in Mantel, near Frankfurt. The services also cover transport of dangerous goods, temperature-controlled shipments, warehouse logistics, customs clearance and GPS tracking of cargo.
Commenting on the 'Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action" that will lift the sanctions on Iran in phases the company said: "The second phase will be completed by October 2023 at the latest, and the full removal, the so-called 'Termination Day' is supposed to be achieved in 2025.
"German trade associations are optimistic due to these developments and expect an increase of bilateral trade, which also needs both a functional logistics network and stable trade lanes."
