Ship efficiency and fuel use meet in Singapore November 23 - 24

Among the speakers will be Qiang Meng who will address Session Five: "Optimisation & Management of Fuel Consumption". 



Dr Meng is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). 



He has distinguished himself through high-level research at the forefront of transportation/liner shipping/intermodal freight network analysis, modelling and optimisation. 



He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles published by leading international transportation and logistics journals.



Among the topics discussed will be transport network modelling and optimisation, shipping and intermodal freight transport analysis and quantitative risk assessment (QRA) of transport operations. 



For shipping and intermodal freight transport analysis, Dr Meng concentrates on liner ship fleet deployment, liner shipping network design, ship sailing speed optimisation, impact analysis of transarctic shipping routes, and intermodal freight transportation network design. 



Other speakers will be Sindhu Shrawan, senior management officer, Maersk Line; Manikandan Muthsamy, fleet director, V Ships Ship Management India; Dom LaVigne, director of government and public affairs-Asia Pacific/Middle East, Methanol Institute; Mike Beviss, director special projects, Eastport Global Pte and Frederick James Francis, head, International Maritime Programmes Division, Singapore Maritime Academy.
