Panama tender Corozal call goes out to APMT, Terminal Link, PSA and TIL

THE Panama Canal has invited tenders from four finalists to design, build and operate a container terminal in West Corozal on the east bank of the waterway's Pacific entrance.

Tenders are expected from Maersk's APM Terminals, CMA CGM's Terminal Link; Singapore's PSA International and Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), of the Netherlands, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.

After the Panama Canal board authorised the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) to proceed with the bidding process, the document is available on the official site: www.micanaldepanama.com

The four pre-qualified companies have until February 3 to submit their financial proposals in compliance with the tender requirements to compete for the 20-year concession.

The 5.3 million-TEU terminal will be developed in two phases: the first phase for the construction and operation of the 3.2 million TEU terminal with 1,350 metres of quay and 66-hectare yard. The second phase will cover 56 hectares and increase capacity by 2.1 million TEU.
