Hong Kong sets up temporary barge loading dock at old Kai Tak runway
HONG KONG's Marine Department has announced that a temporary loading facility has been established alongside the former runway of Kai Tak Airport that closed down in 1998. The facility will remain in operation for 27 months.
One tugboat, two split hopper barges, one derrick barge and one flat top barge will berth at the facility within the operation area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline for loading operation.
The hours of operation will be from 7am to 7pm. Operations will be halted on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels engaged in the operation will remain inside the area throughout the duration of the project.
