China Merchants named Port Operator of the Year by Lloyd's List
HONG KONG's China Merchants Port Holdings Co Ltd. (CMPort) has been awarded Port Operator of the Year 2016 in Lloyd's List Global Award at a gala in London.
Catherine Chow, CMPort public relations director, and Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) general manager Tissa Wickramasinghe attended the awards ceremony.
This is the second time in two consecutive years that CMPort won the award from the shipping publication, in that it was named by its affiliated Containerisation International as terminal operator of the year in 2015.
"The award further reaffirms our strategy is aligning to our vision to become a world's leading comprehensive port service provider," said the China Merchants statement.
"The award allows us to know our status in the industry and on a right path to achieve our goal. CMPort will ever strive for excellence to perform better and better for our customers," the statement said.
According to the press release, the judges were impressed with CMPort's customer focused expansion and myriad innovative developments and investments ranging from "Smart Port" performance programmes to the development of Colombo into a leading transshipment hub in South Asia
