Hapag-Lloyd wins Lloyd's List Global Award for mergers, IPO in hard times
GERMANY's big container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd has been named "Containership Operator of the Year" for its IPO in 2015 and for its mergers with CSAV and UASC in a difficult market environment.
The accolade was presented by Lloyd's List at its London gala at the National Maritime Museum, attended 450 representatives of the world shipping community.
The awards jury praised Hapag-Lloyd's bold steps and examples of successful cultural transformation in a globally active company.
"The award is a great honour for our company," said Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen. "In its long history, our company has already often proved itself to be an innovative and active shaper of the industry - and, at present, it's also doing so as a consolidator."
Mr Habben Jansen said he was optimistic that the company would play a prominent role in our industry in the future.
