ER Schiffahrt provides management for 2 NYK Newcastlemax bulkers
HAMBURG-based ship management company ER Schiffahrt says it is set to manage two Newcastlemax bulk carriers with a dead weight capacity of 210,000 tonnes for Japanese shipping line, NYK.
The handover of the 205,000-dwt Dawn Horizon, a three-year-old vessel measuring 295 metres, took place in Caofeidian, China, at the end of July.
The second ship will be added in September. The management contracts include crewing and technical operations as well as quality management, safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency, a company statement said.
Said CEO Nils Aden: "The mandate from NYK confirms the strength of our performance and our competitive position, and it represents a major vote of confidence."
ER Schiffahrt explains that expanding its service portfolio to include ship management in Asia is the "next logical step" in its strategic direction. This development increases the proportion of third-party clients to 50 per cent.
