Manchester Airport's cargo grows 14pc in July to 10,118 tonnes
MANCHESTER Airport, the UK's third busiest airport, reported that freight volumes rose 14 per cent year on year in July to 10,118 tonnes.
"It's been another strong month for Manchester Airport, in which we have seen double-digit growth," said airport CEO Ken O'Toole. "The news this month that Singapore Airlines will launch direct flights to Houston is another boost for businesses around the region."
Singapore Airlines announced in July that it would launch direct flights from Manchester to Houston from October, as well as remove the current stop in Munich on services to Singapore, reported Mumbai's Stat Trade Times.
The new service to Houston is one of several long haul routes set to commence before the year-end, with Thomson starting flights to Phuket and Mauritius, and Thomas Cook Airlines also starting a new service to Tobago.
