Ex-Philippines customs chief boss urges air forwarders to be competitive
FORMER Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Bert Lina has called on members of the Air Cargo Forwarders of the Philippines (AFPI) Cebu Chapter to be at par with the global standards and to constantly innovate to remain competitive.
Speaking recently at AFPI general membership meeting, Mr Lina pointed out that Cebu was positioned as a gateway to southern Philippines and opportunities abound for freight forwarding and logistics businesses, reported the Cebu Daily News.
Mr Lina asked the 29-member organisation, composed of air freight forwarders, to continue its role as an aggressive participant in aspects of regulatory compliance and developmental work for logistics flow.
"You are an important element in our country's drive to be globally competitive supplier of goods and services," he said.
Mr Lina urged AFPI Cebu members to benchmark with their global counterparts and learn from them, innovate, and re-tool themselves, adding that today's businesses operate in a global environment.
