Yusen augments its Mexican facilities with two warehouse expansions
A 16,000-square foot warehouse in Guadalajara is increasing Japan's Yusen Logistics' air cargo forwarding network in Mexico, reports New York's Air Cargo World.
The Guadalajara branch, which opened on August 1, will handle "increasing demand for logistics capability in Mexico, particularly in areas like Guadalajara, which has become a critical hub for air freight shipments from Asia," said Jordan Dewart, president of Yusen Logistics Mexico.
"The new branch complements our existing operations in Mexico City, Celaya and at the border in Laredo, Texas, and allows us to provide our automotive and other manufacturing customers with just-in-time delivery capability," he said.
Guadalajara, the largest manufacturing region in Mexico, has experienced a surge of automotive manufacturing in the last decade, and also has a large electronics sector.
Guadalajara airport has the second biggest air cargo terminal in the country. Yusen's facility is 10 minutes from the airport, allowing it to reach customers in the automotive, electronic, textile, chemical, mining, furniture and spirits industries.
Yusen, in business in Mexico for almost 20 years, is also building a 60,000-square foot logistics centre just outside of Guadalajara in Bajio, which will be completed later this year.
