Lufthansa Cargo offers way to fly one's bulky items overseas
LUFTHANSA Cargo is offering a new door-to-door service to "private customers" that allows individuals to ship personal items such as furniture, oversize souvenirs, art and motorcycles.
The airline is partnering with or mandating local forwarders to be able to provide the "myAirCargo" service, which has been undergoing trials for the last few months to assure quality.
Said CEO Peter Gerber: "We are excited that private clients can now benefit directly from our many years of air cargo experience. By doing so, we are occupying an innovative niche in the market between postal services and forwarders. Book air cargo quickly and easily online, at first hand - only we can do that."
The "myAirCargo" service is available immediately between most European countries and the US, and in coming months, Lufthansa Cargo said it would extend the offer to other countries.
