Dubai to bid to host FIATA World Congress 2020
PLANS to win the FIATA (Federation Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimiles) World Congress 2020 bid were discussed at a recent high-level meeting in Dubai.
The meeting between the National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL) and the president of the Department of Civil Aviation Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, also chairman of Emirates Group and Dubai World, also discussed the possible opening a FIATA office in Dubai.
NAFL president Nadia Abdul Aziz has made bringing the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) World Congress to Dubai in 2020 the cornerstone of her leadership of NAFL.
To win the bid, the NAFL board will need the full support of relevant government and semi government entities who will provide advice on how to showcase the unique business opportunities in the UAE, reported Dubai's Arabian Supply Chain.
During the meeting, NAFL members appealed to have Emirates Airlines as the main carrier and the talks were described as very productive.
"We recently represented UAE in Africa-Addis Ababa and will represent the UAE logistics industry in Ireland at the FIATA Global World Congress," said Ms Aziz.
"We will always focus on promoting the UAE's excellent infrastructure, airports, airlines, ports and logistic free zones to investors when we travel for global conferences."
NAFL was founded more than 24 years ago to bring all the major players in the UAE freight forwarding, logistics and shipping industry under one body. NAFL's mandate is to add value to their members by facilitating training programmes and networking activities that will enhance business performance and maintain the UAE's standing in the international freight and transportation sectors.
