Coal volumes at Rosterminalugol terminal near St Petersburg up 6pc

THE JSC Rosterminalugol terminal in the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad region, handled 1.7 million tons of coal in July, representing an increase of six per cent compared to the same month a year earlier.

In the first seven months of the year, the Russian terminal handled 9.6 million tons of cargo, which is nearly the same as the volume handled during the corresponding period last year, reported St Petersburg PortNews online.

Coal intended for export to the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Slovenia and Finland is produced in Kuzbass and other coal basins, and then delivered to Rosterminalugol by Russian railways.

In July, a record 25,074 rail cars were unloaded at the coal terminal. By comparison, in July 2015 the terminal unloaded 20,871 rail cars.
