Emirates 777-300 bursts into flames on Dubai landing, no one hurt

AN Emirates 777-300 arriving from India crash landed in Dubai before bursting into flames, but all 282 passengers and 18 crew escaped unharmed.

Television footage and newswire photos showed a large plume of smoke over the plane, with the landing gear torn off and evacuation slides extended, reports Bloomberg.

Dubai Airports has confirmed that all operations (arrivals and departures) at Dubai International have been suspended until further notice.

Flight EK521 was arriving from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, near the southwestern tip of India, to Dubai.

Said the airline: "We are expecting an eight-hour network wide delay, more information will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.

The wrecked aircraft marks the worst accident for Dubai-based Emirates, the world's biggest carrier by international traffic. Boeing's 777 model is the largest twin-engine jet in production and the most used wide-body.
