Panama Canal lock lane to close 3 days, another for 12 hours
THE Panama Canal's west lane of Miraflores Locks will be out of service for three days from 10pm Tuesday, August 2 until 10pm Friday, reports GAC Hot Port News.
Further, the west lane of Pedro Miguel Locks will be out of service from midnight Wednesday till noon Thursday.
"As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservation System, Booking Condition 2 for the Panamax Locks will be in effect. Booking Condition 2 reduces the available slots for Supers from 17 to 10, and from 8 to 6 for Regulars," said the Panama Canal Authority.
"Therefore, there will no booking slots available for the period August 3-5 (all first and second period slots taken) for Supers in the opening of the third period unless there is a cancellation. There will be two slots for Regulars in the opening of the third period," it said.
