KLM joins joint venture between Air France and China Eastern Airlines
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has agreed to join the existing joint venture between sister carrier Air France and China Eastern Airlines.
As part of the arrangement, both KLM and China Eastern will codeshare on each other's Amsterdam-Shanghai Pudong services in addition to three new destinations, reported Switzerland's ch-aviation.
"With this new joint venture, Air France-KLM and the Chinese airline have agreed to consolidate their alliance and optimise routes to Shanghai," said the joint company statement.
"By extending the joint venture to KLM, the Group is also enhancing the attractiveness of its two connecting hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol."
China Eastern already codeshares on flights from Amsterdam to Barcelona, Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Rome.
