7-Eleven and Flirtey deliver freezing slurpees by drone
7-ELEVEN's Slurpees that are found at its stores worldwide may in future be delivered to customers drone, following tests in the US by Flirtey, a leading independent drone delivery service.
The delivery took place in Reno, Nevada, and involved a Flirtey drone flying a cargo of Slurpees, a chicken sandwich, donuts, hot coffee and candy to a private residence in the city, reported New York's Air Cargo World.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to enact updated rules in late August that will allow the operation of small, unmanned aircraft in the national airspace.
The recently passed FAA Reauthorisation Act of 2016 mandates that the FAA develop drone delivery rules, and conduct research on operating unmanned vehicles beyond the visual line of sight (BVOS).
