China's Globalegrow to invest US$150,000 in drone delivery research
ONLINE clothing retailer Globalegrow based in Shenzhen, plans to invest US$150,000 in a drone delivery research project in the next year.
The company estimates delivery times by drones could be cut 25 per cent compared with current delivery methods.
The company plans to recruit roboticists and aeronautical engineers to create a self-flying drone, fitted with sensors to track the package delivery and to retract and detach the tether cable. There would also be additional safety measures to alert passers-by when drone deliveries are taking place, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Globalegrow says that a major motivation is to create faster and economical drone deliveries as the premium that consumers would be willing to pay is low compared to traditional delivery methods.
