TURKISH Airlines has resumed flights to the US after America's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) banned all carriers flying into the country, either directly or via a third country from Turkey, in the wake of the failed coup attempt launched in the country on the night of July 15.
The FAA prohibition on flights entering the US was introduced at noon on July 16 and all scheduled flights to the US operated by the Turkish flag-carrier were resumed on July 19 starting with the 06.45 Istanbul ?New York service, according to London's Air Cargo News.
Turkish Airlines chairman Ilker Ayci explained: "We saw no reason for the ban as all precautions were in line with the norms. Following our recent report and intense meetings, FAA removed the ban as expected.
