Rickenbacker wins weekly 747 from Colombo, adding to HK, Dubai calls
OHIO's Rickenbacker International Airport (LCB) near Columbus has welcomed its first weekly flight from Sri Lanka, reported New York's Air Cargo World.
The Etihad Cargo 747-400 freighter chartered by New York-based Trinity Logistics arrived from Colombo's Bandaranaike International airport loaded with textile products.
The area around Columbus, Ohio, is well known as a fashion and retail distribution centre for the North American market, which has fuelled demand for direct freighter service into Rickenbacker in recent years.
Weekly scheduled freighter flights by Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Cargolux already offer capacity from Southeast Asia into Rickenbacker via transfer hubs in Dubai, Hong Kong and Luxembourg. But this is a first from Colombo, the centre of textile manufacturing hub to land at all-cargo Rickenbacker.
