South Africa demands 'amicable' end to Zimbabwe's ban on its exports
ZIMBABWE's ban on imports of cosmetics, cereals, cheese, canned goods and furniture from South Africa to help local producers has prompted demands from South Africa that the order be rescinded.
South African Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies wants Zimbabwe to end the ban on goods from the continent's most industrialised economy, reports Bloomberg News.
South Africa's exports to Zimbabwe came to ZAR24.8 billion (US$1.7 billion) in 2014, while imports stood at ZAR2 billion.
Said a South African spokesman: "Engagements are still at an early stage. We hope that an amicable solution will be found."
