China to Kazakhstan's expressway route to transport cargo to Europe
CHINA plans to move freight Europe via Russia via Kazakhstan and not along China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will now be restricted to reaching Middle Eastern markets, reported Lahore's Dispatch News Desk.
The China-Kazakhstan Europe route will have the capacity of 800,000 TEU a year by 2020.
According to official reports, Kazakhstan is improving its road network and railway capacity to carry the cargo load and it plans to enter the top 40 countries with the best logistics climate. Kazakhstan caters to Chinese cargo demands as far as Azerbaijan, Ukraine to the Baltic countries.
Kazakhstan entered into agreements with Kiev within the framework of the project. In January, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Ukraine signed a protocol on the establishment of competitive feed-in tariffs for freight trans-Caspian international transport route.
China is working on a multi-pronged cargo strategy to reach the entire world with minimum cargo cost and is working simultaneously on different cargo routes including CPEC, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran.
There is also the Trans-Baltic route with Kazakhstan and the new Silk Road with Russia and Kazakhstan.
