Air Serbia launches first direct flights to US since 19902 Balkans wars
AIR Serbia has commenced five-times-a-week service between the carrier's hub in Belgrade at Nikola Tesla International Airport and New York JFK International Airport.
It marks the first direct service between Serbia and the United States since the Balkans wars in the 1990s, reported Air Cargo World.
The A330-200 used on the new route is of interest to freight forwarders in Eastern Europe and North America due to its ample belly capacity.
Etihad Airways, a 49 per cent equity partner, assisted with engineering; fleet planning and technical support; pilot and cabin crew training; and marketing, legal and guest service backing, according to the airline. Jet Airways, Alitalia and airberlin also assisted with training and logistics.
