DHL Express sets up as prime cargo lease holder in Calgary
GERMANY's DHL Express will be the prime lease holder in the new 100,000-square foot facility, taking up 38,000 square feet and nearly tripling the size of its operations at Calgary airport, where it has been since 2002.
"This investment in the Calgary facility is being made to support current growth, but also the significant mid- to long-term potential seen in international express volumes to and from Alberta," said DHL Express Canada CEO Andrew Williams.
The second phase of YYC's new cargo facility, with direct access to the new 520,000-square foot apron expansion, raises total warehouse space at the airport's Global Logistics Park to more than 3.2 million square feet.
The first phase, where anchor tenant Air Canada leased 50,000 square feet, also houses the Canada Border Services Agency, Cargojet, Cargolux and Cathay Pacific.Nearby, on the northwest area of the airport along Aero Drive, are other busy facilities for airline distribution facilities that include FedEx, Purolator and UPS.
