Rio become latest member of Delta Cargo's Pharma 4 club
RIO de Janeiro has become the first station in Latin America to become Delta Cargo's newest Pharma 4 station enabling it to handle goods in the 15-25 degrees Celsius temperature range.
The seaside Brazilian city, venue for this year's Olympics, was previously certified to handle Pharma 1-3 products only but received its Pharma 4 certification on 13 June and forms part of the US carrier's Variation Pharma programme, the London's Air Cargo World reported.
Variation Pharma is a SkyTeam Cargo product designed specifically for the transport of shipments requiring temperature control and monitoring, including vaccines, medicines and pharmaceuticals.
"Expanding our Pharma 4 stations to include Rio de Janeiro echoes our commitment to globalisation and is a direct response to customer feedback," said new president of Delta Cargo Gareth Joyce.
"Delta Cargo has 49 stations around the globe certified to handle one or more Variation Pharma products, 16 of which are certified for Pharma 4. Our vast network will connect Brazil to the world."
