A-E rate falls 17.9pc to US$540/TEU, off 16pc to Med ports, down 5pc to USWC
SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe fell 17.9 per cent to US$540 per TEU in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
The Asia-Med component of the SCFI declined 16 per cent to US$660 per TEU, Reuters reported.
Shanghai to the US west coast was down five per cent to $770 per FEU as rates to the US east coast off seven per cent to $1,528 per FEU.
